It helps to know how to swim and not fear the water.
Underneath our everyday Reality of mundane practice, there is a sea of Poetry, speaking to us in symbols and metaphors about deeper senses and the meaning of Life itself. Sometimes we plunge into it in dreams, in half-asleep states of laziness, or in psychedelic reveries. We call this sea, when we want to sound serious and scientific, our subconsciousness. The biggest part of our “thinking” happens exactly there. Imagine primordial wetlands dried by the force of reason, all creeks and rivers hidden in concrete tubes, covered with layers of asphalt and foundations for tall buildings. We don’t see it, don’t hear it, don’t experience any inconvenience until certain times in life. And the sea is still there, deep underground, invisible, waiting, pulsating through our intuition and creative acts. Moreover, without a connection to it, creativity and intuition just don’t work.
I was always drawn to improvisation in theater, music, and other creative activities for its refreshing sense of jumping into that invisible sea. In the meantime, I don’t know how I’m going to get out, but I can be sure to have an adventure)
And there you will meet creatures that you didn’t know existed. You will see the places you saw in your dreams. You will encounter parts of yourself, already rusty with your neglect, waiting to be rediscovered. Sometimes, though, you don’t even have to jump into the water – sometimes it is enough to walk down the shore, sit on the sand with your eyes glued to the horizon…
And that is how we can start talking about the LAB: as a place where you learn to trust the mystery underneath—the deep sea of your subconsciousness—and learn to swim…
In our LAB, we explore the poetic dimension of our reality through improvisational activities to expand our sense of connectedness and creativity. We are looking for Flow and learn to surf it.
And on the surface, we have a lot of fun, developing our inner actor’s ability to change, react, adapt, connect, and play!
Based on the pedagogical model used at the Jaque Leqock school in Paris and elsewhere, where alums take it and a wide array of tools from improvisational theater.
